The most common cause we see for HDCP related problems is having a long HDMI cable. Especially since you had the same issue with the previous unit. There are no settings in the receiver that regulate this process, so since it seems to be working with your other sources, it's safe to assume that nothing is broken in the receiver. By power cycling the receiver, the two devices try the handshake again, which apparently fixes it.

A Yamaha engineer offered the following hypothesis:īasically, the HDCP handshake between your TV and DirecTV is failing when you toggle to that input. This is the exact same problem I was having with the unit I returned, and we tried every possible solution, including changing out the HDMI cables, turning off the "native" setting on the DVR/satellite receiver, and doing a factory reset on the receiver. I have to turn off the HDTV, Yamaha receiver and the DVR/satellite receiver, and turn them back on again to restore the picture with the sound. If I switch from either of those devices back to the HDTV and DVR/satellite receiver, however, I get sound but no picture, even after waiting for 30 seconds or more. I can switch back and forth between the Blu-Ray player and the Roku streaming media player, and I get picture and sound without any delay. If I select the Roku option, it switches the receiver to the HDMI 3 input and turns off the Blu-Ray player (the Roku box is always on). If I select the Blu-Ray player option, it turns on the Blu-Ray player, switches the receiver to the HDMI 1 input, and turns off the DVR/satellite box. When I turn on the system to watch satellite TV, the remote turns on the TV, receiver and DVR/satellite box simultaneously, with the receiver set to the HDMI 2 input. I control the entire audio/video system through a Logitech Harmony Smart Control universal remote. The HDMI Out port on the receiver is connected to the HDMI 2/ARC input port on an Insignia NS-55L780A12 55" LED HDTV. The first is a Sony BDP-N460 Blu-Ray player, which is connected to the HDMI 1/(BD/DVD) port a DirecTV Genie HR44-200 digital video recorder/satellite receiver, which is connected to the HDMI 2 port and a Roku 3 streaming media player, which is connected to the HDMI 3 port. I have three HDMI devices connected to my Yamaha RX-V377BL. I will try to give as much information as I can. Unfortunately, the replacement unit, which was shipped to me on, is experiencing the same problem, which leads me to believe the AV receiver is not the problem. This is a repeat occurrence of a problem I had with a Yamaha RX-V377BL unit I purchased on, and which I sent back at the recommendation of the Yamaha technical support representative.
